Tea History: The world class beverage, tea is very important for human health as it has well defined caffeine content as well as strong medicinal value act as the active substance to redraw one’s charm derived from the long and hard working. It plays an important role in our daily life and takes its position in the sympathetic position of our mind. However, this modern tea is not come spontaneously to the nearest position of human modern life. It has a wonderful and strong historical background of its getting popularity. The time to time historical position of tea is given below which may be called generally as tea history.
Tea History and the origins
The most interesting event regarding tea history is its origin. In about 2737 B.C., the then Chinese emperor, Shan Nong discovered this beautiful drink in his garden. He would make his drinking water hot before taking. While doing this in his garden, some tea leaves were fallen in the hot water suddenly and gave an amazing color and odor. The emperor just tasted it and saw it as really amazing. After that the emperor asked for cultivating the tea nearest his palace. This was the introduction and historical story of tea cultivation and the then cultivated variety was Camellia sinensis which is still now under cultivation. Then the tea cultivation practice was extended in many places of the world.

The tea was arrived in Turkey and Japan during 480 and 593 A.D., respectively. During 1370, the Chinese developed three types of processed tea i.e. black, green and oolong tea which also got popularity. However, the drinking tea was arrived in Europe at the beginning of 1700 by the Dutch soldiers. This was the first introduction of tea in the West. The European countries including Britain made a business relationship with china for importing tea as large number of European had taken tea as a favorite one. In 1669, England started to export tea to Britain as the govt. of Britain banned the tea importing from Dutch. In the year of 1680, first milky tea was taken which was stated in Madam de Sevigne’s letters. At the end of the 1600s, Russia committed with china for tea business. At early 18th century, tea was arrived in America especially in North America with a great appeal among the people. In 1778, East India Company started to cultivate Chinese tea instead of Assam tea and became succeed. In 1835, the same company started the tea cultivation in Assam, India. In 1838, tea produced in India was exported to England successfully. In 1840, Sri Lanka started tea cultivation in a trial basis. In 1870, for bringing uniformity the England started to blend tea. During 1904, the green tea and Formosan tea got more popularity over the black tea. In 1910, different countries like Sumatra, Indonesia, Kenya and some part of Africa started tea cultivation. This is all about tea history. But what is the present situation? Now-a-days, more than 40 countries cultivate tea commercially. The tea exporting has become a most profitable business. However, the maximum part of this tea business is controlled by the Asian countries.
